Tooth Extraction

Teeth extraction is the surgical removal of a tooth, often due to decay, damage, or overcrowding, to improve oral health.

What exactly is teeth extraction?

At Whiteline Dental Clinic, teeth extraction is a safe and carefully managed procedure performed to remove teeth that are severely decayed, damaged, or impacted. Our process begins with a comprehensive examination and X-rays to assess the condition of the affected tooth and surrounding structures.

During the initial consultation, our experienced dentists discuss the reasons for extraction and address any concerns you may have. On the day of the procedure, local anesthesia is administered to ensure your comfort throughout the extraction.

For straightforward extractions, we gently loosen the tooth using specialized tools before removing it. In cases of impacted teeth, such as wisdom teeth, we may need to make incisions in the gum to access and remove the tooth safely.

After the extraction, we provide detailed post-operative care instructions, including pain management and dietary recommendations, to facilitate healing. Our focus on patient care ensures a smooth and comfortable experience during the entire extraction process.

Why should I go for teeth extraction?

Teeth extraction relieves pain, prevents further dental issues, and is necessary for impacted or severely damaged teeth, ensuring better oral health.

3. Needed for Treatment

Extractions may be necessary to create space for braces or other orthodontic treatments, ensuring better alignment.

4. Improved Oral Hygiene

Extracting problematic teeth can make it easier to clean the remaining teeth, reducing the risk of cavities, gum disease.

Commonly Asked Questions

Questions that we are asked frequently

In this section are some of the most common questions we're asked about tooth extraction, as well as some helpful tips for the overall wellbeing of your teeth.

A horrendous toothache is usually a pretty good indication that there’s a serious issue going on with your tooth. However, just because you have some pain in the tooth, it does not mean you need an extraction. The only way to know for sure if a tooth extraction is necessary is by having x-rays and a visual exam of your teeth.

You will be limited to soft foods for a few days while your mouth is tender and healing. You can add firmer foods as you feel more comfortable. It may sound logical to use a straw for the first few days following your procedure, but don’t, straws can interfere with healing. Also, stay away from carbonated beverages, and hot foods and drinks while your mouth is in the early stages of healing.

We need you to call our office if you experience any signs of infection, this includes fever, pain, and drainage from the site of the incision. Also, call us if the pain isn’t decreasing after a few days. If you have any worries, questions, or are experiencing any symptoms not mentioned that you are concerned about, please contact our office so that we may address your concerns.

During a difficult extraction its possible for some dental instruments to press on tooth next to the one being removed usually it is avoided but occasionally it may happen and it causes the teeth to be sore but it settles in a week or so but during this time the tooth can be tender to bite.

there are three different types of dental bridges available: traditional fixed bridges, resin bonded bridges and cantilever bridges. The patient’s needs will determine which type of dental bridge will be used.
